It’s kolache day at KSWP. Good Friend in the Morning, Tim, happened to go to Ennis over the weekend and had an opportunity to get some real Czech kolaches, not a klobasnek, which is commonly called a kolache in Texas but is a sausage roll.
Kolaches are Czech pastries made of a yeast dough and usually filled with fruit, but sometimes cheese. The ultra-traditional flavors — such as poppy seed, apricot, prune and a sweet-but-simple farmer’s cheese — can be traced back to the pastry’s Eastern European origin.
This morning Good Friends Tim & Kevin will taste test an apricot, cherry, and poppy seed.
