“My name is Kim Jordan. My son, Kiam Jordan, was running in the State Cross Country race. Liam fell and pulled a muscle in his leg. He didn’t think he would be able to finish, but two boys from your school district helped my son. They cheered him on, grabbed his arm to help him continue, and made sure my son finished the race. I have nothing but gratitude for these athletes. I want to give them a shout out. So far, I have learned that one of the students’ names is Joshua Dixon from Forest Hill and the other is Bernard Duncan from Callaway. I would like to personally thank the school district for having such compassionate students and would like to thank the parents of these students. I have already emailed the principals at each school to let them know. Thanks so much!”

Pray for a Family: A school & two communities and a family mourn after a Corrigan teacher is killed by a suspected drunk driver – The halls are quiet, the door is locked, school is in session at Corrigan-Camden Junior High, but there’s a void there that Connie Mckay once filled. From letters on her door to posts on her Facebook page, Mckay’s influence went beyond her seventh grade reading classroom.
“It’s going to be hard,” said Corrigan-Camden Junior High Principal Robert Elliott as he held back tears. “It’s going to be hard for a while, but I keep going back to her family. I’m a husband and I’m a father and I can’t imagine.” Elliott said McKay was often one of the first ones at school in the morning getting ready to teach.
“The best compliment you can give somebody is that they made a difference and she made a difference every day,” said Elliott. “She made a difference with the teachers and staff here and she made a difference with the students she had.” “She had a genuine concern for these other teachers and staff and for her students,” said Elliott. “She knew every student, seventh, eighth grade, she knew every one of them. She knew what they were doing and what they were capable of doing.” Mckay was dedicated to her profession and to the lives she taught. Now, they work to keep her memory alive.
Funeral services for Connie Renee McKay, of Lufkin, will be held today at 10 a.m., Lufkin’s First Assembly.

Fast Pass In Life: What Else Would It be good for? Michelle and I, while at the Disney World theme park discovered the FAST PASS. While it was pink and I thought hmmm… Why couldn’t this be a different color? This arm band meant that while we were in the park if we wanted to go on a ride that had a long line we could show the band and there was a special line that sent you right through to the front of the line. WOW , we were at the front of the line!
Now it didn’t mean that we could jump in front of other people – it was a totally different line that took you right to the front! Wish I had refused to take mine off my arm!
Now, Michelle and I know that we’re not in the park any more BUTHMMMMMM? … Continue reading
