When one door closes, another opens; But we often look so long and so regretfully upon the close door that we do not see the one that has opened for us. – Alexander Graham Bell

There are times throughout our journey of life that may feel very distant from what we remember as a vibrant, fluent union with God.
I said, ‘let me remember my song in the night; let me meditate in my heart.’ Then my spirit made a diligent search: Will the Lord spurn forever, and never again be favorable? Has his steadfast love forever ceased? Are his promises at an end for all time? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?
Be encouraged if you feel this way – you are not alone. Even the author of this Psalm experienced a longing for the past, and concern about his sense of spiritual ambivalence. My mother has always said that if you don’t lie, you never have to remember what it was that you said. If you have to recount a story or experience, it’ll simply be the truth over and over. It’s a simple concept, but one more often than not, we struggle to adhere to. Take the next opportunity you have to possibly stretch the truth, and resist that temptation. Shoot straight. Enjoy the freedom and peace of mind that results.
A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies. Proverbs 14:5
