“This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.” ~ John 15:12

This verse in the Gospel of John tells us a lot about revealing God`s love for each other. It means we will give yourselves up for one another.

If you’ve ever seen one of your best friends in need, you understand what this verse is about. When you go out of your way to meet a friend’s need, when we are willing to spend time, resources and energy with someone and when you “just do what’s needed because you know what your friend needs, without asking… Yes. You’re a friend!

You are willing to go out of our way and to give ourselves up for others, even lay down our life, a part of it at least, for that person.

This is what Jesus had in mind. With living for a friend requires us to be committed to that friend. Even, in Jesus case, paying the ultimate sacrifice.
