Ordinary or ExtraOrdinary

Thoughts Have Power

Your feelings are quite often a direct result of your thoughts. The  difference between a guilt-ridden Christian and a light-hearted and joyful Christian is often what you believe about one simple thing… what they are thinking about. Guess who’s thinking about the sin, the guilt and the past? Now guess who’s thinking about how they have been washed clean and they are a new person in Christ Jesus?

Thoughts Have Power:

  • “I have found the paradox that if I love until it hurts, then there is no hurt, but only more love.” ~ Mother Teresa
  • “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” ~ Anne Frank
  • “Act as if what you do makes a difference.  It does.” ~William James

Improve or Delay

Continuous Improvement Is Better than Delayed Perfection – Mark Twain

It’s like climbing mountain, you have a choice. One long steady slope or a number of peaks to conquer along the way.

But by careful planning, you can follow the path of least resistance. And to achieve your goal looking ahead you can see the nearest peaks, valleys and paths to achieve the summit.

What You Think Matters

Do you want to be in the same place you are today in 5, 10 years? Then realize what you think matters. People say, “I don’t want to stay in the same place. I want to get better.” If you don’t renew your mind, 20 years from now you will be the same.  Change is a process that must continue as a lifestyle. If change is a process, then renewing your mind is a process.

Let’s say you have a smoking problem. You want to change. You get into the word of God. You renew your mind. However after 3 weeks you stop renewing your mind and go back to the old way of thinking. Guess what happens? When you stop renewing your mind and go back to the old way of thinking, you’ll go back to the old way of living. Sometimes that’s what we do with life.

But, if you just continue on, renewing your mind, you’ll change your mind and thus change your life. You just have to persevere. It must be an everyday life process and that requires renewing your mind.  Why? To improve our game, to get better, to align with the Word of God.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2
