God’s Mercy, Congratulate a Graduate, Cleaner Air from Houseplants, Movie Review

Power Thoughts

  1. “There’s a wideness in God’s mercy like the wideness of the sea.” – Frederick William Faber
  2. “Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of God no matter what the conflict.”
  3. “Remember: God’s answers are wiser than our prayers”

The Good Friends Question of the Day: Do you have a graduate in your family? Say Congrats! Give your graduate advice.

Top 10 Houseplants for Cleaner Air: Houseplants are our often-overlooked helpers in ridding the air of pollutants and toxins, counteracting out-gassing and contributing to balanced internal humidity. It is suggested that one plant should be allowed for approximately 10 square yards of floor space, assuming average ceiling heights of 8 to 9 feet.  Research has shown that these 10 plants are the most effective all-around in counteracting off-gassed chemicals and contributing to balanced internal humidity.

•Areca palm
•Reed palm
•Dwarf date palm
•Boston fern
•Janet Craig dracaena
•English ivy
•Australian sword fern
•Peace Lily
•Rubber plant
•Weeping fig
Although many plants like light, they do not all have to be placed near windows. Many indoor plants originated in the dense shade of tropical forests and have a high rate of photosynthesis. These are ideal for the home and can be placed in darker corners. When positioning plants, try to strike a balance between light and ventilation because the effect of plants on indoor air pollution appears to be reduced if they are set in a draft.

God’s Gift, What Are You Doing This Weekend, Show Love, Worth the Money, Movie Review

Power Thoughts

  1. “God’s gift to those who seek Him is Himself.”
  2. “Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.” –Napoleon Hill
  3. “History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered  heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to  become discouraged by their defeats.” –B.C. Forbes

Facebook Question: The sun is going to come out this weekend… Do you have any special plans?

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 12:9,10
Do this today, with everyone you meet, and consider repeating that behavior until it becomes a way of living. That will show people the true body of Christ more than anything else.

Totally Worth the Money Lots of people are talking about saving money and planning for tomorrow. Here some three things that are totally worth the money. This is a list of things that are from my list and from some of my friends and family.

1. Owning a trailer. When we moved into our current house, I borrowed a utility trailer. We are saving for a 5 x 8 steel trailer with high slat sides and a ramp that drops down in the back.

2. Online movie rentals or movie box rentals. Whether it’s Redbox, Blockbuster or Netflix, I love it and no matter the category they have it.

3. Noise cancelling headphones. If you do a decent amount of air travel, do yourself a favor and get yourself a set of noise cancelling headphones. Yes, they are expensive, but they are fantastic.

What about you? What things do you own that are totally worth the money?

An Ahhh story to warm your heart: In a heartwarming example of selfless love, head baseball coach Tom Walter, from Wake Forest University in North Carolina stepped in for one of his freshmen players, when no one in the boy’s family was a match for his much-needed kidney donation.

Kevin Jordan—a Yankees draft pick—was recruited to Wake Forest last year, but soon after the decision was made, he began feeling sick and was ultimately diagnosed with ANCA (anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies) Vasculitis; his kidneys quickly beginning to fail.

Two days before classes were to start, Jordan’s kidneys were functioning at only 8 percent.  When no one in his family was a suitable match for donation, Walter offered to be tested and was found to be a match. “The last person tested was Kevin’s brother and it came back negative,” said Walter, according to an ESPN report. “So Keith called me and said, ‘If you were serious, we might need you to do this.’ I never hesitated.”

The report states that both underwent their surgeries on Monday, with successful results; doctors say they expect each to “recover fully.”  Kevin Jordan’s father calls his son’s decision to go to Wake Forest University “Divine intervention.”

You are More, ? of the Day, Big Hero Small Package, No Fear, The Mechanic or The Rite or?

Power Thoughts

  • “You are more than the sum of your past mistakes.. You’ve been re-made!” Tenth Ave. North (Song: You are More)
  • “You Are Perfectly, Wonderfully, Beautifully Meant To Be” -Steven Curtis Chapman (Song: Meant To Be)
  • “You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His You’re beautiful” – MercyMe (Song:Beautiful)

Facebook Question of the Day: Have you ever thrown dishes away because you didn’t want to clean them? How do you remove those stubborn items stuck on the dishes?

Your never to old or young to be a hero! An East Texas 6-year-old is now a national hero. Alexis Weeks saved a 2-year-old girl from drowning and is now the first child in the nation this year to receive the Texas Children and Youth Hero Award. It’s given every year by the American Legion Auxiliary. The organization’s children and youth chairman made the trip to East Texas to present Weeks with the prestigious award at Central Elementary School.

Last summer, when a toddler began struggling to swim in a pool, Weeks jumped in to save her. Weeks said the honor makes her feel proud and the life-saving act was just instinct. “I didn’t really think anything, I just thought I needed to go get her,” said Weeks. ” The organization said Weeks is an example to other children her age. (KTRE)

No Fear: Faith opens the door for you to receive blessings from God, conversely fear wreaks havoc in your life. Faith connects you to the promises of God, while fear connects you to the things you fear.

There have been reports of people who were so afraid of dying in a plane crash, contracting cancer or some disease, that they actually died that way. Many ministers believe it was no coincidence, that their fear connects to the tragedy.

Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Likewise, fear comes by hearing, and hearing the words of Satan. When dealing with fear, know that your enemy tries to convince you that the things you can see and hear are more real than the truth of God’s Word. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You can make a decision today not to tolerate fear on any level.
