Help for Struggles with Schoolwork

I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. (Isaiah 41:13)

Praise God: That he is our helper.

Offer Thanks: For the times God my helper has come to my aid.

Ask God: O Lord my helper, I pray my child will know that you are the Lord his/her God, who takes hold of his/her right hand and says, “Do not fear; I will help you.” May the promise of your words reassure him/her as struggles with their studies at school. Please give his teachers patience, compassion, and wisdom to know how to help him learn. I pray that he will not be too proud or embarrassed to ask his teacher for help, and may he be eager to ask for your help as well. When he calls on you, give him an understanding of his lessons, enlighten his mind, and protect him from discouragement. Grant him peace and contentment when he knows that he has tried his best. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Remember: God is always our helper.

Wisdom in Choosing Friends

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the Lord wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper. (Psalm 1:1 – 3 NLT)

Wise heavenly Father, I pray for my child to live in the joy of wise counsel. May my child delight in doing everything you want Lord; day and night may he/she think about your law. Then he/she will be like a tree planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail, not withering but prospering in all he does. O Father, may he/she choose to walk with the wise rather than foolish, godless companions. Guide him/her to relationships that draw him/her closer to you. I pray that his/her heart will be attracted to those who love you and not to those who may be popular or outwardly attractive but despise the things you love. Lead my son/daughter to seek you with a pure heart that delights in your commands, so that he will prosper. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In The News

I don’t normally watch TV much less the MTV Music Awards but I saw on the news, Chris Pratt, star in the new Jurassic World Movie, was awarded the Generation Award last Saturday.  His acceptance speech had some wise words of wisdom including:

“God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Believe that. I do.”

“Learn to pray. It’s easy. It’s so good for your soul.”

While not all his tips were perfect – the fact He acknowledged God and prayer from such a high-profile stage was pretty amazing.  We are all under construction!

What You Think – You Are

Thoughts become things, it’s so important to stay as positive as possible.  It’s crazy how it trickles into everything in your life -Meghan Markle

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Have you ever heard the phrase “You’re not what you think you are…what you think, you are”? That seems to be true. Whatever we think about, dwell upon, and contemplate tends to be our mindset. We are what we think and that is a choice we can make. We cannot control circumstances but we can control how we think about them. If we think on excellent things, we’ll tend to respond to life excellently.
