We’ve been receiving calls from people who are concerned after seeing a viral Facebook post referencing an alleged staph infection outbreak at Schlitterbahn Galveston.
We feel it important to address this matter since it involves an alleged public health threat.
As of this post, Galveston County Health District Epidemiology Services does not have reports from medical providers of staph infection related to Schlitterbahn Galveston.
Our epidemiologists also reached out to UTMB, the medical facility referenced in the post, and verified there are no confirmed staph infection diagnosis affiliated with Schlitterbahn Galveston.
Additionally, we were also able to speak on the phone with the author of the post to confirm the medical facility she referenced in the post.
