41 years ago today, she blew her top!

On this day in 1980, Mt. St. Helens erupted. Located in Washington state, the 9,677-foot volcanic blast was more powerful than the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima. The blast was felt over 100 miles away.
The ash cloud rose more than 11 miles and spread over a 160 mile radius.
Forests around the mountain were leveled and 60 people lost their lives.
